Member Spotlight: Michelle, Maureen & Taylor

This month, we’re shining a spotlight on three incredible women who have been crushing it in our semi-private training with Coach Kristen! Maureen, Taylor, and Michelle each came to KFIT looking for a supportive, motivating environment to help them build strength, confidence, and consistency in their fitness journeys. Through private training and then transitioning to semi-private sessions, they’ve not only gained strength but also found a routine with each other that pushes them to be their best.

During my final session of physical therapy last spring, my PT said I could be discharged on one condition: I needed to find a regular exercise routine. A few months earlier, my back issues were so bad I was having trouble with basic movements and doing everyday tasks. I was grateful to be feeling better, but the ordeal gave me a scary reality check on how easily I could lose my mobility. I’d belonged to gyms and had exercise routines in the past, but I’d always struggled to stay consistent. This time had to be different.

From my first intro call, I got the sense KFIT had the community and camaraderie not found at other gyms. I started working with Kristen in 1:1 training. She’s amazing – knowledgeable, patient, and motivating. Learning proper form from her not only made sure my sessions were safe, but it also gave me the confidence to challenge myself to improve. I learned the basics at my own pace with lots of encouragement and modifications where needed.

I moved on to small-group training, which has been a great experience too. The group atmosphere keeps workouts fun and has been key in keeping me consistent, even on days when it's hard to find motivation. Every woman comes to KFIT with their own story and challenges, but we all have made a commitment to invest in ourselves. It’s been empowering to receive such positive encouragement every week and celebrate each other's victories.

Something has clicked for me at KFIT. I now work out for my strength, endurance, and mental health, not just for my appearance or to meet some made-up standard. I get excited about lifting heavier weights and trying new exercises. My KFIT routine has boosted my energy levels and is a great outlet for stress. I’m so grateful for the community, and I can't wait to continue the journey!

I grew up in Weymouth and have lived in a couple other towns in MA before moving back to Weymouth.  I work as an Account Executive in Employee Benefits out of a company on the south shore.  Outside of KFIT and work, I love spending time at the beach and pool in the summer, trying out new restaurants and finding live music.

I’ve always had an interest in fitness but found it overwhelming, never really knew where to start and I’m not a great self-motivator.  Over the last 10 years or so I’ve ebbed and flowed with different personal trainers, running and even the Peloton fad.  I was a member of KFIT years ago, I really liked how friendly everyone was, the energy and women cheering each other on but had a hard time getting myself there.

Two years ago, I knew I needed to make a change.  I had acquired some injuries over the years that flair up from time to time and wanted to start back slow while avoiding any new injuries and started with private training with Kristen.  Kristen is knowledgeable and I appreciate her ability to modify exercises based on how my body feels.  I love the weight portion of the workout, endurance is still a work in progress.  Kristen encourages me each time when I think I can’t go up in weight or do another rep and I can see and feel myself getting stronger and feeling more confident.

My private training transitioned to semi-private training.  I very much look forward to working out with the 5:30 PM semi-private ladies, we encourage and push each other while still having a fun time.  I might not always feel like coming to class but it’s a form of therapy for me and I’m always happy I did.  By the time I’m leaving my attitude has done a 180 and I never regret a workout or time spent with this crew.  I’m grateful to have found KFIT.

For the longest time I talked about joining a gym but when it came down to actually signing up, I could never commit. I would be overwhelmed with reading reviews when trying to decide where to go or I was honestly intimidated thinking that I had no idea what I was doing. The gym was never a comfort place for me-I didn’t know how to use the machines or anything about form so I would just end up on the treadmill and going home. Once I came across KFIT, I decided  it was time to give it a try and started with one on one private sessions. This was a great way for me to ease into fitness training and it helped me become familiar with the equipment and movements until I was ready to join Semi-Private classes with Kristen.

The Semi-Private classes have become something I look forward to going to every week. I have been going to KFIT for over a year now and have built up to coming 3 times a week. It is such a welcoming and supportive atmosphere and I couldn’t be happier with the results. Kristen encourages you to push yourself and makes you feel comfortable if you need to modify any movements. She has helped me improve my form tremendously. This is the best I have felt in years and I’m so grateful to be apart of the KFIT community!
